Music Top 10: August

It’s September, which means it’s time for another music post. And it also means that it’s autumn now, which is very exciting!

This month it was my birthday and I was on holiday for a bit of it, paired with working almost full time so I haven’t really had a chance to listen to much music, unfortunately.

1. Shining Path by Drones Club

I actually made this my favourite song right now on my blog (which is under the music tab if you’re interested) because i’ve been SO obsessed with it this month.

It’s a bit of a weird one (and an even weirder video) but I have been in love with it. It’s quite electonicy, but I honestly can’t explain this one.

Music Top 10: June

Hello hello, it’s time for another one of my favourite posts- my top 10 music monthlies. However, this month has been almost all repeats, since I didn’t start making a new playlist until the end of the month, so this month i’ve decided to choose ten songs i’ve really been loving instead so that it’s not as boring if you’ve read any of my other posts. So these aren’t necessarily my most listened to songs, but ones i’ve definitely been loving in the past few weeks. If you’re curious to see what i’ve listened to the most, you can check out my last.fm account.

So in no particular order, here’s my 10 top picks from this month!

My Top 20 Favourite Songs: Part Two

This is a continuation from Monday’s post, which if you haven’t seen yet, you should check it out.

11. Electric Feel – MGMT

I don’t feel like this song needs that much of an introduction, because I honestly don’t know anyone who doesn’t know this song already. It’s hippy as hell and i’m so into it. I remember the very first time I listened to this song (whilst writing an English essay waaaay back in 2007) and since then it’s always been in my top 25 most played songs.

My Top 20 Favourite Songs: Part One

Since I’m always talking about music on my blog I thought today I would do a ‘top 20 favourite songs’ post, because I couldn’t pick just 10 and honestly I struggled even with 20. I constantly listen to music, and I’m always discovering more favourites, but these are some that have stuck with me for years, so I felt that they deserved a mention at least somewhere on my small piece of the internet! Also, these are in no order whatsoever. So without further ado, a small portion of my favourite songs!

1. Love Will Tear Us Apart – Joy Division

You might remember this from my three favourites post, but chances are you already know this song, because it’s an absolute classic. Not much to say about this one, except that it’s the right amount of grunge and the right amount of indie rolled into one. Great.

Music Top 10: May

As if it’s really June already. I’ve turned into that person who’s constantly surprised at the beginning of every month, but I really do feel like this year is going so quickly!

I don’t feel like i’ve actually been listening to that much new music this month, which is definitely weird for me. However, almost all of these songs are ones I haven’t spoken about before. For once.

Music Top 10: April

It’s my favourite time again, the time where I get to share which tracks I’ve really been loving this month! I look at music like an audio diary, because different music reminds me of different times in my life, which I think is pretty cool. But without rambling like usual, i’m just going to get into it.

1. Chateau Lobby #4 (In C For Two Virgins) by Father John Misty

I am obsessed with this song. I’ve been a massive Fleet Foxes fan for the longest time, and when J Tillman broke off to become Father John Misty, I was on board. It’s from his newest album I Love You, Honeybear which is fantastic, but this song is by far my favourite. The amount of times last.fm reckons i’ve listened to this song (26)  is nowhere near accurate, as it’s been on repeat on Spotify from my phone, which last.fm doesn’t recognise. That’s how much I love it. Definitely give this one, and the entire album a listen. Also if you’re interested here’s a pretty cool article about Father John Misty himself.

Music Top 10: March

This month has been so crazy for so many reasons, and I can’t believe that it’s April already! So with another month, comes another of my music top 10s. Music is a massive part of my life and I love looking back at everything I’ve been listening to for the past month.

1. Marks To Prove It by The Maccabees

I’m obsessed with this. The Maccabees are a fantastic band, but this song is something else. It’s so catchy and the video is quite cool, if a bit trippy. Gold star.

Music Top 10: February

And I am back with another thrilling instalment of my music top 10. I’m afraid that my concerns from last month that these would all feature the same songs is still somewhat true, but it’s almost all new ones in there, surprisingly! I listen to a lot of music, but I’m one of those terrible serial repeaters. You know, the people who listen to songs on repeat for hours and then get so sick of it they can’t bear to listen to the song anymore? Yep, that’s me.

1. Got Well Soon by Breton.

I’m sorry. I did think it was likely that this song would make a reappearance, because it’s still one of my absolute favourites right now. I wonder if i’ll ever get sick of it. I love Breton anyway, but that backing track is just sooooo good.  If you want to know what I said about it before, you can read my last post here.

Music Top 10: January

So I thought it would be fun, since I’m obsessed with music (listening, not playing… I have the musical talent of a block of wood) to start a ‘Top 10’ according to Last.Fm of the songs that I’ve been loving that month. Then I can look back on all the music i’ve been loving throughout the year, and everyone else can get a sort of music recommendation from me!

Fair warning, I am a serial repeater of songs. I listen to them over and over until I can’t stand to hear them anymore, so the likelihood of songs appearing in more than one month is extremely likely.

So without further ado, my top 10 played songs of January are:

1. Tears of Joy by Slow Club

I don’t think words can actually describe my intense love for this song. I am fully obsessed, and have been for at least 5 months. It’s chill, it’s unique and it’s easy to sing along to. Their entire album ‘Complete Surrender’ is incredible, but this one’s my favourite.
